- Exciting opportunity for a Business Data Insights Analyst to join the Faculty of Engineering
- Base Salary HEO8, $117,116 - $132,079 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The Faculty of Engineering is seeking a Business Data Insights Analyst whose primary focus will be to communicate their high-level data analysis and sophisticated reporting which will provide the background for better-informed decision making, project planning and remedial strategies for improved outcomes. The Faculty is seeking a strong communicator who understands the University's core business of teaching and research and is able to translate their analysis and findings into the Faculty context and to a varied audience.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- present findings and draft recommendations to inform strategic and operational planning within the Education and Research portfolio for consideration by the Faculty Leadership Group
- work collaboratively with Faculty and School Managers to ensure the interpretation of data is understood and the necessary support is provided to draft project plans and strategic initiatives to improve Faculty performance
- share knowledge and best practices to help develop the skillset of their colleagues in the area of data analysis and reporting
- work with multiple stakeholders at the same time and develop long term stakeholder relationships.
The role analyses data, sector trends and policy changes to provide sound advice on future planning and operational requirements for the Faculty using strong communication skills, extensive administration experience, technical knowledge and project advice to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of information and recommendations while promoting a professional client focused culture.
When required, the role is also responsible for managing special projects related to business intelligence and data initiatives of the Faculty.

About you

- demonstrated experience in data visualization skills (e.g. PowerBi or Tableau) and the business acumen to interpret data and insights within their broader context
- knowledge and experience using predictive analytics and machine learning algorithms to deliver business value in a real-world setting
- demonstrated ability to consolidate information and findings identified from complex data assessments and presents information and outcomes in a professional and useful business format with excellent attention to detail
- excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, relationship building and influencing skills, paired with high level of tact, diplomacy and discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in handling complex enquiries, translating data analysis to a broad range of audiences and tailoring communications as appropriate to support key stakeholders
- knowledge of business processes, policy objectives and the system of governance in higher educational institutions, including the interpretation and application of legislation, rules and regulations
- strong time management and organisation skills and the ability to work autonomously under general direction, take initiative and exercise sound judgement in independently resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.
