About National Institute of Technology Srinagar
National Institute of Technology Srinagar is one of the oldest technical universities in India. It was established in 1960 as the Regional Engineering College, in the Indian Kashmiri capital of Srinagar, and was one of the first eight regional engineering colleges set up by the government of India. The institute shifted to its present campus in 1965 and has since been offering high-quality technical education in various disciplines.
The university offers undergraduate programmes through the Joint Entrance Examination, and admits postgraduate students based on scores in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The institute has 12 academic departments, covering various fields, including engineering, applied sciences, humanities and social sciences. The medium of instruction is English.
The campus is located on the western bank of Dal Lake and has modern facilities, including a central library, a campus-wide wifi network and computer labs.
