About Veltech University
Veltech University was originally established in 1997 by the University of Madras as an engineering college. From 2001 the college was affiliated with Anna University until 2008 when it was recognised as a deemed-to-be-university by the Department of Higher Education.
The institute is located in Avadi, a town in Chennai, the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu, India.
The institute is organised into seven academic schools: computing, electrical and communication, mechanical and construction, sciences and humanities, management, law, and media technology and communication. Each school offers a range of undergraduate and graduate courses as well as a PhD programme. The institute operates through the Choice Based Credit System, which gives students the flexibility to pursue their own interests at their own pace.
The institute has developed partnerships with more than 390 institutions across 30 countries to facilitate academic and scientific collaborations. Students at the institute are encouraged to study abroad for one or two semesters at these partner institutions as part of the student exchange programme. Meanwhile the institute welcomes international students from across the globe to join its diverse campus.
